"Snakes United" is our Thursday soccer champion, taking down "Plan B" in last night's title game. The 3-1 win was a fitting end to their season!
In their two previous meetings, "Silver Snakes" and "Plan B" had fought tooth and nail. Unfortunately, the "Silver Snakes" only picked up a 0-0 draw and a 2-0 loss in those regular season games. Having not scored a goal at all against their biggest rival, it was tough to imagine them coming out on top this season.
However, they saved their best for last, putting up more goals than "Plan B" had allowed all season in the championship game.
Overall the "Silver Snakes" were dominant this season, ending with a 7-1-1 record and topping the league with a +25 goal differential. "Plan B" lagged behind in second, but at a +15 were a full 10 goals behind.
A big part of that was their defense, which never allowed more than 2 goals all season! And even then, it happened only twice. Even more impressive, they help opponents to a goal or less in 7 of their games.
