For the second time in as many seasons "Team Iceland" is our Sunday soccer Division 1 champion!
Fresh off an undefeated 10-0 season in the summer, our defending champs were met with a tougher start in the fall, starting with a 1-0 loss to "Kasik's Greatest Hits". "Team Iceland" was able to get on track in their second game of the season, but once again hit a speed bump in their third contest, tying another eventual playoff team in "Tangarang United" by the score of 1-1.
However, despite the slower than normal start,"Team Iceland" looked their usual selves winning their final five regular season games by a combined 26-6 score.
In the playoffs it was business as usual in round one, defeating "Tangarang United" in their rematch convincingly, 5-0. In the championship game "Team Iceland" was able to knock out the top seed "Kickballers" by a 2-1 scoreline, making them champs two years in a row.
Congratulations on a second straight Sunday championship for "Team Iceland"! Each season they enter as one of the favorites, and each season they continue to impress. Can they make it three in a row next season? We can't wait to find out!
