Volleyball - Tuesday's (Spring '16)

"The Sandlot" is our top Tuesday Night Volleyball League team after surviving the 5-team playoff bracket Tuesday night. They entered the night with a decent shot to win as the #3 team.

The night started of with our 4 v 5 match-up as "GNO" took on "Notorious D.I.G." "Notorious D.I.G." won the serve and started off the game strong and eventually took game one. After a game two loss they regrouped and were able to win game three by the final of 22-20, as both teams playing incredibly really well this game.

"Notorious D.I.G." then went into their second game of the night taking on the best team through the regular season, "No Diggity". "No Diggity" got off to a flying start and showed why they were the best team in the league in the first match as they crushed "Notorious D.I.G." But, "Notorious D.I.G." found their groove from the first match and was able to win game two by just a hair. Their win pushed it to a third game where"Notorious D.I.G." was able to get hot early thanks to their top-notch service game. That gave them the early lead, and from there they wouldn't look back. The win meant they would await the winner of our next game to play in the championship.

That third match of the evening was between "I'd Hit That" and "The Sandlot" in a match-up between two of our most seasoned teams. "The Sandlot" was able to win game one despite neither team really ever pulling away by more than a point or two. Then things got even in game two with "I'd Hit That" narrowly squeaking out a win.

In game three "The Sandlot" kicked it up another gear though, and were able to get out to an early eight point lead thanks to some great serving. In the end it was "The Sandlot" who would win game three easily 21-12, setting the stage for our championship game.

The championship match was definitely closer than the final 2-0 scoreline would indicate, with both teams playing at the top of their games thanks to some great wins earlier on. With that being said "The Sandlot" was the better team on this night as they took game one by the score of 22-20 and went on to win game two by the final of 21-19, making them our Tuesday Night champions for the spring.

Congrats to "The Sandlot" on a fantastic season! After last season's tough loss in the championship, it's great to see then come up with the ultimate prize this time.
