So much for seeding! Thursday night cornhole at Nitty’s Cider ended with an underdog takeover, as #6 CornDejo stormed through the bracket and finished the night as league champions! And they weren’t the only lower seed making noise because by the time the championship rolled around, the #5 and #6 seeds were the only teams left standing.
The upsets started immediately in the quarterfinals. #5 Bag Company knocked off #4 Slightly Baggy with a 3-1 victory, while #6 CornDejo began their championship run by taking down #3 Starting Over by the same 3-1 score. With both underdogs advancing, the top two seeds were waiting for them in the semifinals.
That apparently didn't matter. 😤 Bag Company went toe to toe with #1 Two Guys One Hole and pulled off a huge 3-2 upset, sending the top seed home in a five game battle. At the other board, CornDejo kept rolling, taking down #2 The UniCorns 3-1. Just like that, seeds #1 through #4 were all eliminated, and the championship belonged to the bottom two seeds in the playoff field!
The Cinderella showdown featured #5 Bag Company vs. #6 CornDejo, but CornDejo wasn't about to let their run end one match short. They closed out an incredible playoff night with a 3-1 victory, completing a run that saw them defeat the #3, #2 and #5 seeds on their way to the title.
From the lowest seed in the bracket to the last team standing, CornDejo proved that regular season seeding doesn't mean a thing once the bags start flying. Congratulations to #6 CORNDEJO, your Thursday Night Nitty's Cornhole Champions! 🌽🍻🏆
