The Wednesday Night Beginner Sand Volleyball playoffs brought plenty of excitement as the top eight teams out of an 18 team field battled it out at Howe Park for the championship. From early upsets to a thrilling three set final, the bracket had a little bit of everything.
The biggest surprise of the quarterfinals came right away when #8 How I Spiked Your Mother stunned the regular season's #1 Big Ol Hitties in straight sets, proving that playoff volleyball is anyone's game. Elsewhere, #4 Cold 6 Pack advanced with a solid win over #5 Sets in the City, #2 Volley Stealers moved on after #7 Artichoke Me was forced to forfeit, and #3 The Volley Llamas punched their ticket to the semifinals with a straight set victory over #6 Notorious DIG.
The semifinals kept the momentum rolling. Cold 6 Pack ended the Cinderella run of How I Spiked Your Mother with a hard fought three set victory, while The Volley Llamas outlasted Volley Stealers in another competitive three set match to set up a championship showdown between the #3 and #4 seeds.
The finals delivered everything fans could ask for. Cold 6 Pack came out firing and claimed the opening set 21-10, but The Volley Llamas refused to go quietly, battling back to even the match with a 21-18 second set victory. With the championship on the line, the deciding set was a nail biter from start to finish. Cold 6 Pack dug deep in the biggest moments, edging out a dramatic 21-19 win to secure the title and cap off an incredible playoff run.
Congratulations to Cold 6 Pack on an outstanding championship performance! They stayed composed through a challenging bracket and rose to the occasion when it mattered most. A huge shoutout also goes to The Volley Llamas for an incredible finals performance and to How I Spiked Your Mother for pulling off one of the tournament's biggest upsets by knocking off the top seed. What a fantastic finish to an exciting Wednesday Night Beginner Sand Volleyball season!
