The Beginner Volleyball playoffs brought plenty of excitement Thursday night at Mather Sports Center as the top four seeds battled for the championship. The #1 seed Care Bares looked every bit the favorite in the semifinals, defeating #4 The Empire Spikes Back in straight sets to punch their ticket to the finals. Meanwhile, #2 Horns Down 3 kept their championship hopes alive with a strong two set victory over #3 Beauhemian Rhapsody, setting up a showdown between the league's top two teams.
With the championship on the line, Horns Down 3 rose to the occasion. They played with confidence from the first serve, putting together long scoring runs and forcing Care Bares to work for every point. Their consistent passing, smart shot selection, and solid defense proved to be the difference as they controlled both sets from start to finish. Horns Down 3 captured the title with an impressive 21-15, 21-16 victory, completing a statement performance against the top seeded squad.
Congratulations to Horns Down 3 on an outstanding championship run! Taking down the #1 seed in the finals is never an easy task, but they delivered when it mattered most to earn the crown. Hats off as well to Care Bares, Beauhemian Rhapsody, and The Empire Spikes Back for a fantastic season and an entertaining night of volleyball.
