Thursday Night Intermediate Volleyball delivered a playoff bracket worthy of the division, with the top five seeds battling through a competitive night at Turn Verein. When the dust settled, it was the #1 seeded Tip Happens squad standing tall, earning the championship after a hard fought run through the bracket.
The evening began with #4 Smokin' Aces advancing past #5 Jersey Shore in straight sets during the quarterfinals, setting up a semifinal showdown with the top seed. Smokin' Aces brought the pressure and pushed Tip Happens to the limit, taking a set and forcing a decisive third game. The regular season champions responded when it mattered most, escaping with a 2-1 victory and punching their ticket to the finals. On the other side of the bracket, #2 Ace Slinging Slashers and #3 Ace Down pAss Up put together another tightly contested match, with the Slashers surviving a three set battle to earn their spot in the championship match.
The finals featured the division's top two teams, and the match lived up to expectations. Tip Happens showed why they earned the #1 seed, but it was anything but easy. The opening set was a thriller, with Tip Happens narrowly edging out Ace Slinging Slashers 21-19 in a back and forth battle. With momentum on their side, Tip Happens found another gear in the second set, closing out the championship with a 21-16 victory to secure the title in straight sets.
Congratulations to Tip Happens on an outstanding season and a well earned championship! 🎉 Their playoff run included surviving a semifinal scare and then defeating the #2 seed in the finals, proving they could handle every challenge thrown their way.
