Gryffindor Has the Magic Kicks

Our Summer 2015 Tuesday Kickball Downtown division wrapped up last night with the leagues top 4 teams poised to make a run at the championship, the bar tab and eternal glory. However in the end only 1 team was left standing.

Our two semi final contests couldn't have been more different, one a low scoring defensive struggle and the other a balls to the wall offensive explosion.

The top seeded "Kickballs to the Chin" secured their spot in the finals defeating the upset minded "Where My Pitches at" by the hair on their chinny chin chins 1-0. Meanwhile in our second semi-final the experience and resilience of "Gryffindor" was on full display as they outlasted a strong effort from "Mofongo" winning 10-7.

The championship game featured a showdown between the divisions two best teams. When the two squads met earlier in the season it was Kickballs to the Chin that came away with the win. However, that only made Gryffindor even more thirsty for revenge. The championship game was a dramatic, back and forth affair with neither team being able to secure a sizable lead on their foe. However with some timely kicks and magical defensive plays put Gryffindor over the top en route to a 5-4 win.

Congratulations to Gryffindor and to all of the teams that competed in a great Kickball season.

They May Have Been Picked Last, But They Are Champions

Our Summer 2015 Downtown Kickball division wrapped up with fireworks on the field as the top 4 teams battled tooth and nail in a winner take all playoff.

The action got underway in our first semi-final with a stunning upset. The #4 seed "Picked Last" came from nowhere to dominate the #1 seed and championship favorite "Balls and Dolls". Holding the top seed scoreless en route to a 5-0 beat down. Meanwhile in our second semi-final, "The Kicking Asses Strike Back" and "Red Balls and Vodka" played a low scoring defensive game in which runs were at a premium. Eventually, The Kicking Asses utilized experience and strategy to move on to the finals, winning 2-1.

Thus our final was set between The Kicking Asses Strike Back and Picked Last. When the two teams met in the regular season The Kicking Asses came out on top while holding Picked Last scoreless. On this day however, Picked Last managed to put one run on the board, and that one run was all that was needed to claim the championship as Picked Last won the contest 1-0 behind stellar defensive play.

Congratulations to Picked Last and to all of the teams that competed in a great Kickball season.

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.
º Forfeits
Parenthesized numbers indicate wins or losses by forfeit.
When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
