Glory Hole Captures Eternal Glory

Our Late Summer 2014 Wednesday Cornhole playoffs took place last night with the top 8 teams putting their skills to the test for bragging rights and an Alley Katz bar tab.

All of the higher seeds emerged victorious in the opening round #4 If You're Not First, You're Last took down #5 Children of the Corn and #3 Karate Explosion tackling #6 Sack Wranglers.

The semi's were a 1 v 4 and 2 v 3. The #1 seed Glory Hole stumbled little as they advanced with a 3-1 victory. The same could not be said for the #2 seed Corn on the Lob, as Karate Explosion pulled it out in 5 well played games.

Thus the battle field was set, center stage in the back bar of Alley Katz. 1 v 3, best of 5. This, boys and girls, was a championship that most certainly did not disappoint. Game 1 was a battle between Dan and Anthony, both dropping it like it was hot. Back and forth they went with Karate Explosion ultimately sweeping the leg of Glory Hole to take game 1. Anthony with ice in his veins, dropped a 3 bagger to put the game away. Game 2 wasn't as exciting. Dan's first throws for Glory Hole, landed Glory Hole a 10-1 lead, and it didn't take much more for Glory Hole to lay rest to game 2. So we are knotted at 1-1, with game 3 being a much closer and tense game. Close all the way through. With the game tied 19-19, Glory Hole karate chopped their foe, 22-19. With Glory Hole a win away from raising the trophy, again, Karate Explosion sent out their A team: Nathan and Alisha. Glory Hole countered with Dan and Artem. Back and forth, forth and back they went. Around the 7-7 mark, Karate Explosion decided they had enough with the Glory Hole and slowly separated themselves with a 21-16 victory. This win set the stage for an epic, winner take all, for the XOSO World Championship of Cornhole. Daniel and Bob vs Nathan and Alisha. Nathan was on fire all night with Alisha following suit, however, they just couldn't match what Dan had in store for them. 2-6, 3-6, 6-6, 8-9, and then Dan cowboy'd up and kindly delivered a 10 point throw, putting it 19-9. Bob then delivered the crane kick that dashed the hopes and dreams of Karate Explosion, 22-9.

Congratulations to Glory Hole and to all of the teams that competed in a great cornhole season.

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.
º Forfeits
Parenthesized numbers indicate wins or losses by forfeit.
When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
