I'd Hit That Hits Their Way To a Championship

The evening started with four teams battling for the coveted title of Summer 2014 Setter Volleyball Champions. Top Seed, Boom GSM took on the fourth seed Blue Chocolate Dragons. Following a quick win for Boom GSM in the first match, Blue Chocolate Dragons brought the heat and made the second match a close call. However, it wasn’t quite enough to stop Boom GSM from advancing to the Championship round. Meanwhile, on the next court, number two seed Betty White Does Grass, took on the number three seed, I’d Hit That. I’d Hit That, playing with only five players, dug in deep and hit hard, made smart plays, and defeated Betty White Does Grass in two quick matches.

I’d Hit That advanced to the Championship game to face off against Boom GSM, last season’s reigning champs. In the first match I’d Hit That took off with an early lead. Boom GSM had some epic saves and killer hits, but it wasn’t enough to catch up to I’d Hit That. One match behind, Boom GSM knew they had to step up if they wanted to keep their throne, but I’d Hit That wasn’t ready to back down. The second match went point for point. Any time one team would get the advantage, the other team echoed back. With the score at 22-22, it came down to one last point. If Boom GSM scored, there would be a third match to determine this season’s champs. If I’d Hit That scored, the game would be over and we would have a rookie team as the new champions. Everyone was on their toes and ready for action, and I’d Hit That served and earned the last point, becoming this season’s Setter Volleyball Champions!

Congratulations to I’d Hit That and to all the teams that played in our last grass volleyball season of the year.

How are Standings Calculated?
Winners receive 2 points, each team in a tie receives 1 point, and losers receive 0 points. If you forfeit, you lose a point, so don't forfeit! Plus, two forfeits make your team ineligible for playoffs.

Teams are ranked by (1) Ranking Points, (2) Head to Head Two Teams Only*, (3) Point Differential, (4) Coin Toss.

Head to Head is only used if there are two teams tied. Ties involving 3+ teams disregard H2H and move on to point differential for the tiebreaker.

When calculating Ranking Points, forfeits may be weighted differently than normal wins and losses.
