"I'm Kick James, Pitch!!" takes the top spot in our latest Tuesday Kickball League following another great season from the top performer. They did start their evening off in unfamiliar territory however, thanks to a loss and a tie in the regular season. Instead of entering the playoffs as a top seed, they started off tonight as the #3 seed. By the end of the evening though, that didn't really make a difference.
In the first game of the night for the Downtown Division "RiKICKulous" took on "Ballsagna". The matchup proved to be a tough one as these two played to a 3-3 draw just a few weeks earlier. Once again it was a close game, but the top-seeded "RiKICKulous" was able to edge out their competition thanks to a combination of great kicking and timely defense. In they end they would go on to win 6-4.
In game 2 "I'm Kick James, Pitch!!" faced the only opponent they had lost to all season, the #2 Base Invaders". Still, despite the lower seeding, this wasn't much of an upset for the veteran squad who showed why they are always the team to beat when they play. An offensive explosion by "I'm Kick James, Pitch!!" saw them take an 11-3 win against a quality opponent to see themselves on to the championship game.
Our championship game was quite an intense one, especially considering this was a rematch of last season's championship game which ended with just one run being scored. Similar to that game, every run scored was a huge deal, so defense became of the utmost importance. Fortunately for "I'm Kick James, Pitch!!", their three runs were just enough. Just like last season it was "I'm Kick James, Pitch!!" who would once again be crowned champions, this time following a 3-2 win.

The "Cucumber Gimlets" are our Tuesday Night Midtown champions in a bit of an upset for the #3 seed heading into the night. With just an above-average 4-3-1 record following the regular season, these underdogs had to knock off two tough opponents to win it all. That didn't seem to matter too much to our champs as they mowed down those top two seeds en route to their march to the top of the podium.
The first game of the night in the Midtown bracket saw the top team entering the night, "On Tuesdays We Wear Pink", just sneak by "Kick Tease" by the final of 4-3. While the win was great, you had to think they were looking for more of a convincing win. Either way, the win put them into the championship game.
The "Cucumber Gimlets" took the field in game two of the Midtown bracket against "Ur-in", a squad that had managed a fantastic 7-1 regular season record. Records only mean so much when it comes playoff time though, and "Cucumber Gimlets" proved that with a nail-biting 4-3 win to punch their ticket the finals.
In the championship game "On Tuesdays We Wear Pink" was definitely the favorite despite that so-so first game. "Cucumber Gimlets" meanwhile was coming of a great win and was able to ride that wave on through the championship.
Throughout the season "On Tuesdays We Wear Pink" only allowed 2.25 runs per game, making them the top defensive team in the league. That didn't stop "Cucumber Gimlets" from picking up four hard-earned runs, proving to be just enough to beat out the favorite to win it all by the score of 4-3.
Congrats to "Cucumber Gimlets", the winner of our Tuesday Kickball Midtown championship, despite a tough uphill battle. Against all odds they are the champion, and deservedly so!
