"Unprotected Sacks" is our Friday Night Cornhole League champion after a great night of games, capping off in their second-straight league championship!
The night started as our lower seeded teams faced off. "Quadruple Penetration" defeated "A-Team Photo" in a tight 3-2 game while "3 in the stink, 1 in the pink" took care of business against "Corn Thugz and Harmony" in a 3-0 sweep. That would be the end of the night for our two first round winners though, as they faced off against to two top regular season teams and couldn't get through to the finals following a 3-1 victory for "Unprotected Sacks" and a clean 3-0 win by "Sack to the Future". That set us up for the championship.
Our final showdown was a rematch of last season's final between "Unprotected Sacks" and "Sack to the Future"! In the building for "Unprotected Sacks" were Jon, Joe, and Chris while "Sack to the Future" had two players there in Dan and Will.
In game 1 Dan and Will took on Joe and Chris, which provided a bit of a challenge. The first game ended in a win for "Unprotected Sacks" thanks to Chris nailing cornholes flawlessly with his "Billy the Kid" persona.
In game 2 Jon entered for Chris. Dan fired back in this game against Joe, sniping his bags off the board and cancelling out his points. However, "Sack to the Future" couldn't keep up with "Unprotected Sacks" point differential, and they would eventually walk away with another win, taking a commanding 2-0 lead.
The same players faced off in Game 3, with Dan and "Trusty Ol' Will" showcasing their skills winning cornhole after cornhole to secure their first win of the match, and to cut their deficit in half.
Our fourth and final game had "Billy The Kid" Chris back in for Joe, truly showing his MVP status for the night. While Will and Chris were a great match for each other and continuously cancelling each other out by knocking bags into the hole, Chris pulled ahead. In a moment that killed the end of the game, Dan accidentally knocked Joe's bag into the hole -- giving them the final points they needed to walk away with their second straight championship!
Congrats to "Unprotected Sacks" on a flawless season capped off by their second straight title. Can they make it three in a row, or will "Sack to the Future" finally get their revenge? We can't wait to find out!
