"Here 4 Beer" is our Thursday Soccer League champion following back-to-back wins against tough playoff opponents. Entering the night they were the favorites to win it all, but that didn't mean it was going to be an easy path to victory.
In their first game of the night "Here 4 Beer" took on "Stout Strikers". Earlier this season the two teams played to a high-scoring 4-4 draw, but this time one team had to win. That team would be "Here 4 Beer" who picked up a 4-2 win over the #4 seeded "Stout Strikers".
While the top team "Here 4 Beer" got a bit of a breather, they awaited the winner of the next game between "Raptors FC" and "Trespassers United". In their first meeting "Raptors FC" suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss. This time however, they would turn the tables picking up three goals of their own while only conceding two, putting themselves into the championship game.
In the championship game "Here 4 Beer" definitely had the fresher legs, and in the end that may have been the different. The offense was there once again for them as well, picking up three more goals when it mattered most. Their defense also stood strong, allowing just one by their keeper. When all was said and done, it was a 3-1 championship win for "Here 4 Beer".
Congragulations to "Here 4 Beer" on an incredible season. We look forward to seeing if they can follow that up with another title run as they switch nights over to Tuesdays!
