Everybody loves a good underdog story, and this evening at Alley Katz our Wednesday Cornhole League playoffs featured a number of prominent ones. But, once the bean bag dust setttled, "Team Sinkum" was our champion.
"Team Sinkum" came into the night as the #4 seed and easily dispatched of their opponent, "Sack to the Future", to reach the second round. That second round proved to be just as easy as our eventual champion swept the #1 seeded "Amaize Hoyos" by the score of 3-0.
In the other half of the bracket "Unprotected Sacks" beat their rival and last season's champion "Nick's Angels" by a 3-0 score. They then went on to beat "Team Deez" (who also scored an upset victory against a higher seed) in the second round 3-2 to set their place in the final.
Our final between "Team Sinkum" and "Unprotected Sacks" was an intense one. Most rounds were neck and neck, separated by just a few points. At one point Joe was on a roll making 3 bags in the hole during one round.
Eventually, with the score 2-2, it came down to the last game. The pressure was on both squads, but it was "Team Sinkum" who would beat "Unprotected Sacks" by a mere 1 point to win the final match!
A thrilling end to a fantastic Wednesday Cornhole season! Once again, congrats to "Team Sinkum" for being crowned our top team for Wednesday Cornhole.
