What a night of volleyball at Turn Verein! Our Monday Night Beginner Volleyball League wrapped up on November 2 with an exciting playoff showdown that had teams battling for every point! With the top seeds looking to defend their positions and a few underdogs hoping to shake things up, the stage was set for an action packed evening. In the end, it was #1 HGH who came out on top, but their road to the championship was anything but easy!
The evening kicked off with a competitive quarterfinal matchup between #4 Fireballs and #5 Sugar and Spike. Fireballs managed to pull out a hard fought 2-1 victory, keeping their championship hopes alive and advancing to face the top seed. In the semifinals, #1 HGH faced a determined Fireballs squad that wasn't going down without a fight! HGH ultimately secured a 2-1 victory to advance to the finals. On the other side of the bracket, #3 Sacramento Smash delivered an impressive upset against #2 Good Volleybrations, sweeping them 2-0 to earn their spot in the championship match!
With the title on the line, #1 HGH and #3 Sacramento Smash delivered an absolute thriller! The opening set was a nail biter, with HGH narrowly taking it 22-20 to grab the early advantage. Sacramento Smash wasn't ready to call it a night, though, bouncing back in the second set with a 21-18 victory to even the match at one set apiece. With everything coming down to a decisive third set, both teams had one final opportunity to claim the championship!
In the final set, HGH found their rhythm and pulled away to secure a 21-14 victory, officially winning the match 2-1 and claiming the Beginner Volleyball Championship! After surviving a three set battle in the semifinals and another in the finals, HGH proved they could handle the pressure when it mattered most. Sacramento Smash deserves plenty of credit as well, knocking off the #2 seed and pushing the top ranked team all the way to a deciding set!
A HUGE congratulations to HGH, our Monday Night Beginner Volleyball Champions! 🏆 Thank you to all our teams for another fantastic season of volleyball, great competition, and plenty of exciting rallies. We can't wait to see everyone back on the court next season!
