Wednesday night’s Women’s Intermediate Volleyball playoffs at Mather Sports Center featured the top four teams battling for one last chance at the title, and #1 Tackle Mode made sure their season ended exactly where they started the playoffs... on top! After two straight set victories, the top seed officially claimed the Wednesday night championship. 🏆
The semifinals kicked off with #1 Tackle Mode taking on #4 Block Party. Block Party had the tough task of trying to knock off the regular season leaders, but Tackle Mode came into playoff night ready to go. The #1 seed took care of business with a 2–0 sweep, earning themselves the first spot in the championship match.
The other semifinal brought our upset of the night! 👀 #2 Soft Serve faced #3 Queens Court, but Queens Court wasn't letting the higher seed stand in their way. The #3 seed put together a strong performance and swept Soft Serve 2–0, punching their ticket to the final and earning a shot at the top seeded Tackle Mode.
With the championship on the line, Tackle Mode kept doing exactly what had gotten them there. They came out strong in the opening set and grabbed a 21–14 victory, putting themselves just one set away from the title. Queens Court battled to keep their playoff run alive in Set 2, but Tackle Mode stayed in control and closed things out 21–16 to complete another 2–0 sweep!
From the regular season through the final point of the playoffs, Tackle Mode proved why they earned the #1 seed. They didn't drop a single set on championship night, sweeping both Block Party and Queens Court on their way to the title. That's one dominant way to finish a season! 🔥
