After a two week playoff battle at Howe Park, our Beginner Pickleball season officially has its champion! The bracket kicked off on August 11 with the quarterfinals, where the lower seeds came ready to shake things up. #5 2 Shorts and a Tall knocked off #4 Kitchen Queens in a 2-0 sweep, while #6 Brine Time pulled off the upset over #3 Hit Happens, taking the matchup 2-1 and earning a spot in the semifinals.
The action picked back up on August 18, with the top two seeds finally entering the mix. #1 I Came Here to Smash was immediately tested by #5 2 Shorts and a Tall, but the top seed held strong and battled their way to a 2-1 victory. On the other court, #2 Holy Dinkamole put together a dominant performance against Cinderella-story #6 Brine Time, sweeping them 2-0 to set up the championship matchup everyone was waiting for: #1 vs. #2. 👀🔥
With the title on the line, I Came Here to Smash showed exactly why they earned that #1 seed. They capped off their season with a 2-0 sweep over Holy Dinkamole, finishing their playoff run undefeated and officially taking home the Beginner Pickleball crown! 👑🏓

After two weeks of playoff action at Howe Park, #4 Team X emerged from a stacked eight team bracket to claim the Intermediate Pickleball Championship! The postseason kicked off August 11 with all eight teams in action, and right away we saw just how competitive this bracket was going to be. #1 Day Dinkers survived a tough challenge from #8 Really Big Dills, winning 2-1, while #4 Team X made an early statement with a 2-0 sweep over #5 Pickleball Z. On the other side of the bracket, #2 Dill Picklers swept #7 Now Serving, while #6 Team Why delivered the first big upset of the tournament by knocking off #3 Relished Pickles, 2-1.
When the semifinals rolled around on August 18, the underdogs completely took over. Team X went head to head with top seeded Day Dinkers and came away with a huge 2-1 victory, eliminating the #1 seed and punching their ticket to the championship. Meanwhile, #6 Team Why kept their Cinderella run alive, taking down #2 Dill Picklers in another 2-1 battle. Just like that, the top three seeds were all out, setting up a championship showdown between the #4 and #6 seeds! 👀
But when the championship was on the line, Team X left no doubt. After battling through a tough semifinal, they turned around and delivered a dominant 2-0 sweep over Team Why to officially claim the Intermediate title! Team X's playoff run included wins over the #5, #1 and #6 seeds, with their biggest victory coming when they knocked off the top seed on their way to the crown. 👑
Huge congratulations to TEAM X on an incredible championship run! 🎉🏆 And major props to Team Why for making an impressive run all the way from the #6 seed to the finals. With upsets, three set battles, and two lower seeds meeting for the championship, this bracket was proof that once the playoffs start, seeding goes out the window! 🏓🔥
