The top four teams took over Roosevelt Park Tuesday night for the Downtown Division Kickball playoffs, and when the dust settled, the #1 seed Balls of Duty proved exactly why they entered the postseason on top. After surviving a semifinal battle and shutting down the #2 seed in the championship, Balls of Duty finished the night as your Downtown Division champs! 🏆
The semifinals opened with #1 Balls of Duty taking on #4 I’m PRESSive, and the fourth seed wasn't going down without a fight. I’m PRESSive put six runs on the board and kept the pressure on until the end, but Balls of Duty's offense was able to do just enough to secure an 8-6 victory and advance to the championship. The other semifinal featured #2 Swingin’ Dingers against #3 See You Next Tuesday, with Swingin’ Dingers controlling the matchup on their way to a 6-2 win. With both higher seeds advancing, the championship was officially set: #1 vs. #2 for the Downtown Division title.
After combining for 14 runs in their semifinal, Balls of Duty and Swingin’ Dingers found themselves in a much more defensive battle with the championship on the line. Balls of Duty held Swingin’ Dingers to just one run, while their offense put four on the board. The result was a 4-1 victory, completing a perfect playoff night for the league's top seed.
From the #1 seed to Downtown Division Champions, Balls of Duty took care of business when it mattered most! They scored 12 runs across their two playoff games, survived a strong challenge from the #4 seed, and then delivered their best defensive performance of the night in the finals. The top four teams hit the grass at Roosevelt Park Tuesday night for the Midtown Division Kickball playoffs, and the #1 seed Los Kickers made sure their regular season success carried straight into the postseason. After two convincing playoff victories, Los Kickers officially closed out the season as Downtown Division Champions! 🏆
The semifinals started with #1 Los Kickers taking on #4 What’s The Dill, and the top seed came out firing. Los Kickers put eight runs on the board while holding What’s The Dill to just one, cruising to an 8-1 victory and becoming the first team to secure a spot in the championship. The second semifinal provided much more drama, as #2 Baddies In The Outfield faced #3 Fresh Kicks of Ball-air. In the closest game of the night, Fresh Kicks of Ball-air pulled off the bracket’s lone upset, edging out the #2 seed 5-4 to earn their shot at the title.
That set up a championship matchup between #1 Los Kickers and #3 Fresh Kicks of Ball-air. Fresh Kicks had already proven they could knock off a higher seed, but Los Kickers weren't about to become their next victim. The top seed delivered another strong performance on both sides of the ball, scoring seven runs while holding Fresh Kicks to three. A 7-3 victory sealed the championship and completed an impressive playoff night for Los Kickers.
Los Kickers entered the playoffs as the #1 seed and left as champions, scoring 15 runs across two games while allowing just four. After an 8-1 semifinal statement and a 7-3 championship victory, there wasn't much doubt about who owned the grass field Tuesday night.
