The Monday Night Kickball playoffs at Roosevelt Park delivered plenty of postseason drama, with the lower seeds taking over when it mattered most. Heading into the night, MeL’s Litter Box held the #1 seed, followed by #2 Kickpocalypse, #3 Drinkers!, and #4 Alcoballics. But by the end of the night, it was the fourth seed standing alone as league champions!
The first semifinal featured #1 MeL’s Litter Box against #4 Alcoballics, and Alcoballics wasted no time busting the bracket. Despite entering the playoffs as the lowest seed, they knocked off the regular season leaders 3-1, becoming the first team to punch their ticket to the championship game. The upset trend continued in the second semifinal, where #3 Drinkers! took on #2 Kickpocalypse. Drinkers! brought the offense in a big way, putting up eight runs in an 8-3 victory to set up a championship matchup between the #3 and #4 seeds.
With both higher seeds eliminated, #4 Alcoballics and #3 Drinkers! met with the title on the line. After holding the top seeded team to just one run in the semifinals, Alcoballics' defense stayed locked in for the championship. They held Drinkers! to two runs while putting five of their own on the board, securing a 5-2 victory and completing an impressive two game playoff run.
From the #4 seed to Monday Night Kickball Champions, Alcoballics earned this one the hard way! They defeated the #1 seed and #3 seed in back to back games while allowing just three total runs all night. Congratulations to Alcoballics on an incredible playoff run and a well earned championship! 🍻🏆
