If there was ever a night to prove that playoff seeding doesn’t mean a thing once the first serve goes up, Tackle Mode just did it.
Entering Wednesday night’s Women’s Intermediate Volleyball playoffs as the #4 seed, Tackle Mode had the toughest possible road to a championship with starting on a semifinal matchup against #1 Hard Hitters. But the underdogs wasted absolutely no time flipping the bracket upside down. Tackle Mode swept the top seed 2–0, pulling off the first upset of the night and earning their spot in the championship match. 👀
On the other side of the bracket, #2 Holy Blockamole! had their hands full with #3 Block Party. Block Party pushed the higher seed to three sets, but Holy Blockamole! ultimately came out on top 2–1, setting up a championship between the #2 and #4 seeds.
And apparently Tackle Mode wasn’t satisfied with just one upset.
The #4 seed came out FLYING in the championship, taking the opening set 21–11. There would be no comeback this time. Tackle Mode followed it up with an even more dominant 21–10 second set, completing the sweep and officially finishing one of the best underdog runs you could ask for. 🔥
#1 seed? Swept. #2 seed? Swept. Championship? SECURED. 🏆
Tackle Mode entered the night as the lowest seed in the bracket and walked out as the last team standing. Two matches, two sweeps, and one championship later, the #4 seed completed the Cinderella run!
