The competition was heating up at Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation on October 12 as our Beginner Volleyball teams battled it out for the championship title! With the top four seeds ready to leave it all on the court, the evening featured dominant semifinal performances, a championship showdown between the top two teams, and a final set that nobody saw coming!
The semifinals kicked off with #1 seed Can't Touch This! taking on #4 seed Spike It Like It's Hot. The top seed showed exactly why they finished the regular season at the top of the standings, securing a convincing 2-0 victory and punching their ticket to the championship match. On the other side of the bracket, #2 seed Balls in Your Face faced off against #3 seed Stella. Balls in Your Face came out swinging, earning their own 2-0 sweep and setting up the ultimate championship showdown between the league's top two seeds!
With the title on the line, Can't Touch This! and Balls in Your Face squared off in a best-of-three battle that delivered plenty of excitement! Balls in Your Face struck first, taking the opening set 21-14 and putting themselves just one win away from the championship. But Can't Touch This! wasn't going down without a fight! The #1 seed bounced back in impressive fashion, dominating the second set 21-11 to even the match and force a winner take all third set. With both teams having shown their strength, the championship was officially up for grabs!
Then came a final set that left everyone speechless! Balls in Your Face completely took over, delivering an unbelievable 21-0 shutout to secure the championship! After dropping the second set, the #2 seed flipped the script in spectacular fashion, refusing to surrender a single point in the deciding game. Talk about saving your best performance for last! What started as a tightly contested championship matchup ended with one of the most dominant final sets imaginable.
A HUGE congratulations to Balls in Your Face, our Beginner Volleyball Champions! 🏆🏐 From sweeping their semifinal opponent to knocking off the #1 seed in the finals, these champs proved they had what it takes to rise to the occasion. Shoutout to Can't Touch This! for an incredible season and a hard fought championship appearance, and to all four playoff teams for bringing the energy to SASF! Until next season, keep those serves flying and those rallies rolling!
