The #3 seed Cuervos FC came into Sunday’s playoffs with a tough road ahead, needing to get through both teams seeded above them to claim the Division 1 title. They did exactly that, putting together two very different performances on their way to the championship.

Their semifinal matchup against #2 seed Homies United was all Cuervos FC from the start. Cuervos jumped out early and never really allowed Homies United to settle into the match, pulling away for an impressive 6-2 victory. The dominant performance sent the #3 seed into the championship game, where top seeded Crew FC was waiting.

The final was a completely different battle. Crew FC and Cuervos FC went back and forth throughout the match, with neither side able to separate itself from the other. Crew FC had multiple opportunities to grab the lead but couldn’t find the finishing touch, and the match ultimately ended 1-1 in regulation, sending the Division 1 championship to a penalty shootout.

With the season coming down to PKs, Cuervos FC came through when it mattered most. They edged Crew FC 5-4 in the shootout, completing their run through the top two seeds and officially claiming the Sunday Division 1 Soccer Championship! 🏆⚽ From a six goal semifinal performance to surviving a nail biting championship shootout, the #3 seed earned this one the hard way.
