Our Summer 2014 Bumper Volleyball champion was determined on Wednesday as the leagues top two teams, Ace Ventura Set Detective and Drunken Drunkers took to the court at Sutter Middle School with their sights set on the championship.
The teams faced the difficult task of playing against one another in the regular season finale, only to battle for the championship immediately thereafter.
Scarcely have we seen two teams more evenly matched compete in the finals. Throughout the entire match, games were neck and neck, point for point, hit for hit. It was almost a forgone conclusion that a third and deciding game would be needed to determine who would be crowned champion and receive the $50 Barwest bar tab.
In the third and final game the score was 21 to 21, with a team needing to win by two points to secure the title. Ace Ventura Set Detective earned a side out, favoring them by one point, and following an intense rally, the ball dropped on Drunken Drunkers side of the net, making Ace Ventura Set Detectives champions of the Bumper League for a second straight season.
Congratulations to Ace Ventura Set Detective on the victory, to Drunken Drunkers for making it an epic battle up until the very last point, and to all of the teams that competed in a great season.

Our 2014 Summer Spiker Volleyball league wrapped up last night as A Bump for Diggler faced off against Plan B in the last game of the regular season, and then again in the Championship game.
Having won the championship in the previous season, and having lost only one game all season, A Bump For Diggler entered the finals with the confidence and swagger of a champion. Plan B, however would not be intimidated and were eager to prove that they would be up for the challenge.
With the whistle blown, the games began and A Bump for Diggler held nothing back. With killer hits, unbelievable saves, and strategic tips, they won the first games quickly. Plan B knew that in order to have a chance at glory, they had to step up their game, communicate, and make smart plays. They did just that and won the next match. Their victory was short lived as A Bump for Diggler rallied together and made a grand entrance in to the final game and earned the Spiker Champions crown.
Congratulations to A Bump for Diggler and to all who played in the Spiker league this season.
