Volleyball - Tuesday's (Fall '16)

"Notorious D.I.G." is our Tuesday Night Volleyball champion following a great set of games in the playoffs. This was a similar team to the one that lost in the first round of the playoffs last season, despite being the #2 seed. This time they entered the playoffs as the top seed and were one of two teams that had a good shot of winning it all.

"Notorious D.I.G." got things started off right as they defeated "Blue your brains out" with a quick 2-0 sweep to gain their entry into the finals. Blue Your Brains Out won the serve and started game one. Game one was a game of serves with players from each team maxing out the 5 serve limit for half of the points in the game before Notorious D.I.G. won the first game 21-13. Game two started out with service from Notorious D.I.G. Again, their strong serving won them the second game 21-12, sending them to the championship game. After the win they awaited the winner of the next game between "I'd Hit That" and Scared Hitless".

I'd Hit That started with the serve and quickly got ahead with their strong hitting and kept it up to win game one 21-12. The second game of the match was much closer. Scared Hitless has great servers and won most of their points with aces, but I'd Hit That came back and won this game as well 21-18, leading us to a championship game featuring the top two teams this season.

It was only fitting that the two teams who opened the season would end it, though with different results. It turns out that opening night loss was the only one "Notorious D.I.G." would suffer all year as they would pull out the close 2-1 win in the championship game. "I'd Hit That" hung on to a close game one, winning 21-18. In game two, "Notorious D.I.G." battled back with a resounding win, 21-10, to force a deciding game three for all the marbles. The rallies for each point got longer and longer as the game wore on. Eventually, "Notorious D.I.G." emerged with the 23-22 victory. The win caps off a fantastic 9-1 season, just one season after being knocked out of the playoffs earlier than they would have liked. Congrats to them in a great season, and thanks to everyone for a great season!
