"3 Douche Dudes" is our Wednesday Cornhole League champion following a truly dominant season. They finished with a 9-0-1 record including seven straight wins to start the season. The one blemish on their record was a 2-2 tie in the final week of the regular season. That great run netted them the #1 seed for the playoffs and a bye in the first round, along with #2 "Nick's Angels".
In a small victory for underdogs everywhere, the first round saw both lower seeds win with identical 3-1 scores as #5 "Shuck It" defeated "Baggin' and Braggin'" and #6 "Corn to Be Wild" beat "Hole in One". The run for underdogs stopped there though with "2 Douche Dudes" narrowly beating "Shuck It" in a 3-2 victory, while "Nick's Angels" swept their opponent 3-0. It was a bit of a scare for our eventual champs, but maybe it was all the better for them knowing their fantastic run could be over in an instant if they didn't stay focused.
With those wins, our bracket was down to our two top teams from the regular season. Unfortunately for "Nick's Angels" they didn't have their 'A' game for the championship and it cost them. Much like their 3-1 regular season loss to "3 Douche Dudes" they just couldn't get much momentum. Instead, "3 Douche Dudes" was firing on all cylinders, and in the end were able to complete a 3-0 sweep in the finals.
Congrats to "3 Douche Dudes" on a nearly perfect season! We look forward to seeing if they can replicate their success in our upcoming league starting next week!
