Kicks 'n' Giggles win!

Sacramento, CA - Last night wrapped up the Spring 2010 Indoor Kickball season with two epic showdowns between the top two teams.

In the first game of the night, Red Balls & Vodka needed to win by a large margin to have a chance at reaching the championship game. They trailed We Kick Balls by 9 runs in the differential tiebreaker, and hoped that We Kick Balls would be beaten by Kicks 'n' Giggles in the last game. Red Balls & Vodka did their part, defeating the Blue Ballers by 10; there was nothing left to do but wait and root for a Kicks 'n' Giggles victory.

The 2nd game of the night featured a revenge match between the Odd Balls and the Royal Tennenballs. Earlier in the season, the Odd Balls had a furious comeback to win in extra innings with a walkoff kick. This night was redemption for the Royal Tennenballs as they won 19-8.

In the last matchup, with the championship game in the balance, We Kick Balls and Kicks 'n' Giggles battled back and forth, with a lead change every inning it seemed. Trailing by two heading into the bottom of the 6th, Kicks 'n' Giggles scored two runs with aggressive base running to earn a tie. Unfortunately for Red Balls & Vodka, a tie gave We Kick Balls a point and therefore, the spot in the championship game.

So we had an instant rematch between Kicks 'n' Giggles, the #1 seed, and We Kick Balls, the #2 team. Again, the teams went back and forth, trading leads, and had two ties after the 3rd and 4th innings. In the 5th inning, the double damage inning, Kicks 'n' Giggles got two people across home plate, to gain a 4 run lead. They held on to win the championship 15-11, in one of the closest Indoor Kickball Championships we've had to date.
